OVERVIEW:
This session will feature a speaker who serves on the Planning Commission which implements Fluvanna’s Comprehensive Plan , and speakers who are involved in authorizing and implementing Fluvanna’s Planning and Zoning regulations as described in this summary. It would be very helpful to review the documents linked here in advance of the class.
Our speakers are:
- Barry Bibb, Planning Commission Chair, Cunningham District Representative
- Douglas Miles, Director of Community Development
- Brad Robinson, Senior Planner in the Planning and Zoning Department
- Roger Black, Code Inspector – E&S Plans Reviewer with the Building Department
The first part of the session will follow a Q&A format with a series of questions pertaining to Planning, Zoning and Building Department’s roles and responsibilities. The questions will be asked by a class moderator while the students will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions of their own.
In the second part of the session our speakers will provide the class with an overview of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. Should the time allow, the class will be divided into two random groups to consider, evaluate, and propose a procedural solution to a real-world scenario involving some of the Planning, Zoning and Building rules/regulations that the students have been exposed to during the class.
PLEASE FILL OUT THE SESSION EVALUATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You will receive a link in an email for a very short Survey Monkey questionnaire. Your comments will help us to plan and improve next year’s program
